Go Team Go; Ability Now Cheers on the Oakland A’s During Community Outing

It was a beautiful day in September when some participants and staff of Ability Now Bay Area attended an Oakland A’s game. The group showed their team spirit, wearing Oakland A’s hats and t-shirts, and cheering the players on throughout the game.

Community outings is an important part of Ability Now’s programs and services. Not only does it give our participants an opportunity to engage in community events, it helps in their development and practice of independent living skills by learning to maneuver in an unfamiliar environment.

One of our participants, Kevin Siemens, said being at the game brought back memories for him when he was 10 years old and went to his first game. Now, thirty years later, he was able to go to his second game.

Although the gang from Ability Now cheered their hearts out for their team, the Oakland A’s lost the game to the Texas Rangers one to eight. Better luck next time A’s.
